This specimen was part of lot 51211 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Specimen Set (6 Pieces), 1970. While the specimens are scarce, the circulation strikes and prooflike strikes are very common. The dollar commemorated the centennial of Manitoba; no "voyaguer" dollar was struck in 1970. While the nickel dollars circulated occasionally, the silver dollars struck after 1968 were sold to collectors.
Recorded mintage: 4,140,058 plus 645,869 prooflike plus 100 specimens.
Specification: 15.64 g, nickel, 32 mm diameter, reeded edge.
