Canada 1941 25 cents

from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70498

This specimen was lot 70498 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $85. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1941. Ottawa Mint. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. Offering a soft, wholly argent nature, this frosty white minor exudes tremendous brilliance and charm." This type was struck for George VI 1937-47 and this is a common date. In 1948, "ET IND IMP" was dropped from the obverse legend (KM 44) and the modified type was issued 1948-52. Silver was removed from the quarter in 1968.
