This specimen was lot 70497 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $95. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1940. Ottawa Mint. PCGS MS-64+ Gold Shield. Blast white and fully blazing, this argent near-Gem minor drip with a frosty nature to its matte surfaces." This type was struck for George VI 1937-47 and this is a common date. In 1948, "ET IND IMP" was dropped from the obverse legend (KM 44) and the modified type was issued 1948-52. Silver was removed from the quarter in 1968.
