Canada 1915 10 cents
This specimen was lot 31172 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada. George V 10 Cents 1915 MS65 ICCS, Ottawa mint. The standout preservation of this gem selection is immediately felt in hand, owing to its brilliant cartwheel luster unimpeded by handling and complemented by clear detail rendered through a sound strike. A steel-blue tone frames the peripheries, subtle touches of amber present in the center." This type, struck at Ottawa 1911-19, is common in grades up thru About Uncirculated tho some dates are scarce. This date is better but not rare. In 1920, the alloy was reduced to 0.800 fine silver.
Recorded mintage: 688,057, a better date.
Specification: 2.32 g, 0.925 fine silver, 17.8 mm diameter.
