Canada 1892 cent

from the Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70324

This specimen was lot 70324 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $132. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. Cent, 1892. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-64 Brown. This handsome example exhibits a good strike displaying rich mottled brown patination with a decent amount of original mint red throughout." This type was struck 1876, 1881-1901 in large numbers. While the 1892 is not a high mintage date, it is not rare.

Recorded mintage: 1,200,000.

Specification: 5.67 g, bronze, 25.5 mm diameter, plain edge.
