This specimen was lot 1112 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $17,625. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1889. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Choice 1889 25 Cents. RARE in this grade. Toned." This type was struck 1870-1901. Many dates are common but this one is rare.

Recorded mintage: 66,324.

Specification: 5.81 g, 0.925 fine silver, .172 troy oz ASW.
