This specimen was lot 13081 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1875-H. PCGS VF-35." This type was struck 1870-1901 and superseded the disliked twenty cent piece. This Heaton mint issue is a key date despite the large mintage. Like all Canadian quarters of the period, it is very scarce in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 1,000,000.
Specification: 5.81 g, 0.925 fine silver, .173 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM-5.
