Aureo y Calicó sale 423, lot 1404

This specimen was lot 1404 in Aureo y Calicó sale 423 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 400 € (about US$518 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1641. Reaper's war. Caldes of Montbui. 1 sisè. Principat. No cauldron. Fine example. Rare, especially in this condition. MBC+ [choice very fine]." During the War of the Pyrenees (ended 1659), the French occupied Catalonia with the collaboration of the locals and struck coins there. This scarce type was struck 1641 only.
