Jean Elsen sale 138, lot 1204

This specimen was lot 1204 in Jean Elsen sale 138 (Brussels, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"BURUNDI, Mwambutsa IV (1962-1966), AV 25 francs, 1962. Indépendance nationale. Flan poli. (kingdom of Burundi, Mwambutsa IV, 1962-66, gold twenty-five francs of 1962, national independence, proof.)"

This NCLT was included in a set comprising the five, ten, twenty-five, fifty and one hundred francs. The king was ousted by coup in 1966.

Recorded mintage: 15,000 proofs.

Specification: 8 g, 0.900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW.
