Künker sale 386, lot 5804

This specimen was lot 5804 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €9,000 (about US$11,630 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BULGARIEN, KÖNIGREICH, Ferdinand, (1887-) 1908-1918. 100 Lewa 1912, Wien, auf sein 25jähriges Regierungsjubiläum und auf die Unabhängigkeitserklärung am 5. Oktober 1908 (nach julianischem Kalender 22. September 1908). 29,03 g Feingold. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 60 PL (6631527-004). GOLD. Kl. Randfehler und Kratzer, vorzüglich aus polierter Platte. (kingdom of Bulgaria, Ferdinand, 1908-18, 100 leva of 1912, Vienna mint, on the 25th anniversary of independence in 1908. Minor rim nicks and hairlines, struck on a polished planchet, graded NGC MS-60 PL.)"

This commemorative was restruck by the communists in the 1960's but the restrike dies are slightly different.

Recorded mintage: 5,000 plus proofs and restrikes.
