Bulgaria 1913 lev

from Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71209

formerly in the Mountain Groan Collection

The first specimen was lot 71209 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $132. The catalog description^[1] noted, "BULGARIA. Lev, 1913. Vienna or Kremnica Mint. Ferdinand I. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. A well struck Lev with full satiny luster and splashes of russet toning." This type was struck 1912-13, 1916. It was accompanied by ten and fifty stotinki and two leva.

Recorded mintage: 3,500,000.

Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, .133 troy oz ASW, 23 mm diameter.
