This specimen was lot 70081 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARGENTINA. Buenos Aires. 2 Reales, 1853. NGC MS-63 Brown. This beautifully preserved survivor exhibits a bold strike with smooth chocolate brown patina displaying a mottled blue sheen." This type was struck 1853-56 and is common in low grade. The next issue (KM 11) of 1860-61 closed out the series of coppers from Buenos Aires. Regular federal coinage began in 1882.
