This specimen was lot 20384 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $4,465. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Taler, 1727-HCH. August Wilhelm (1714-31). PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. RARE type. Well struck with the minute details well defined on the reverse showing individual hairs on the "wild man" without the aid of magnification. Attractive old cabinet tone showing golden hues amongst the devices with a lovely blue-grey sheen throughout." This rather scarce type was struck 1727, 1729 and 1733.
