This specimen was lot 13137 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,998. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. 1 1/2 Taler, 1662-(S). August II (1634-66). Evidence of old cleaning, otherwise NEARLY EXTREMELY FINE." This large coin was issued 1655, 1660, 1662 and 1664. Duke August II ruled 1634-66.
