Künker sale 400, lot 10

This specimen was lot 10 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$10,379 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBUTTEL, August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. Löser zu 3 Reichstalern 1655, Zellerfeld. Ohne Wertpunze; Münzmeister Henning Schlüter. Der geharnischte Herzog mit Federhut und Kommandostab reitet auf einem nach r. springenden Roß//Fünffach behelmtes, 11feldiges Wappen. Von großer Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, fast vorzüglich, Exemplar der Auktion Meister & Sonntag 17, Stuttgart 2013, Nr. 1547. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, August the Younger, 1635-66, triple thaler of 1655, Zellerfeld mint, without value punched in. Obverse: the armored duke with feathered hat and baton rides right; reverse: five helmeted manifold arms. Extremely rare, fine toning, die breaks, about extremely fine.)"

This rare type was accompanied by a 1½ thaler (Dav-LS71) and a double thaler (Dav-LS70). The SCWC does not mention the "HS" initials.
