Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 41264

This specimen was lot 41264 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. Taler, 1650-HS. Zellerfeld or Goslar Mint. August "the Younger". PCGS AU-55. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1650-53 and is somewhat available. Other thalers for 1650 include Dav-6349 (bust obverse, 3/4 left) and Dav-6348 (bust obverse).
