Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1652-HS thaler Dav-6350
This specimen was lot 754 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €550 (about US$711 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. Reichstaler 1652, Goslar oder Zellerfeld. R Hübsche Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, August the Younger, 1635-66, thaler of 1652, Goslar or Zellerfeld mint. Scarce, nice toning, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type of 1652-53 is not rare but brings more than earlier types such as Dav-6348. A closely related "bust left" type (Dav-6351) was struck 1652-55.
