This specimen was lot 73465 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 1/2 Taler, 1629-HS. Zellerfeld or Goslar Mint; mm: crossed keys between HS. Friedrich Ulrich. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details. This example is well-struck, offering pleasingly uniform argent surfaces with minimal other color. Even with the light cleaning, an attractive example of the type. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Ex: Harald Möller auction 50, lot #2668 (with ticket)." This type is listed for 1614-32 and is common in circulated condition. A variety exists (KM 70) where the wild man holds the uprooted tree in his right hand.
