This specimen was lot 73215 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 1/2 Taler, 1614. Goslar or Zellerfeld Mint; mm: crowned heart. Friedrich Ulrich. PCGS AU-50. Some minor wear is noted on the body of the wildman, but this elegant survivor otherwise presents an alluring appearance through its burnished amber tone accentuating the devices. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type is noted for 161-13 and is rather scarce along with another "wild man" half thaler, KM 51, struck 1614-32.
