Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 41251

This specimen was lot 41251 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Wolfenbuttel. 1/4 Taler, 1601. Zellerfeld or Goslar Mint; mm: crowned heart. Heinrich Julius. PCGS EF-45. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1600-13 and has a rather high catalog value, altho this example realized only 60% of that.
