Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1602 thaler Dav-6285
This specimen was lot 5022 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €500 (about US$646 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Heinrich Julius, 1589-1613. Reichstaler 1602, Zellerfeld. Feine Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Emporium 7, Hamburg 1986, Nr. 2674. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Henry Julius, 1589-1613, thaler of 1602, Zellerfeld mint. Fine patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This tpe was struck 1600-13 and is fairly common. Other thalers for 1602 include Dav-6290 (St. Andrew), Dav-6292 (St. Andrew) and Dav-6296 (death of the duke's mother).
