Künker sale 293, lot 449

This specimen was lot 449 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €300 (about US$404 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM Julius, 1568-1589. Reichstaler (24 Groschen) 1569, Goslar, mit Titel Maximilians II. Lichttaler. Schrötlingsfehler, Korrosionsspuren, sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Julius, 1568-89, "light" thaler (24 groschen) of 1569, Goslar mint, in the name of Maximilian II. Edge bumps and nicks, spots of corrosion, very fine.)"

This one year type is noted as common. The "light" in the nickname refers to the lamp in the wild man's hand, not the weight.
