The first specimen was lot 782 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €550 (about US$711 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG-CELLE, FÜRSTENTUM Christian, Bischof von Minden, 1611-1633. Reichstaler 1623, Clausthal. Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle, Christian, bishop of Minden 1611-33, thaler of 1623, Clausthal mint. Attractive example with nice patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 3618 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €260 (about US$368 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG-CELLE, FÜRSTENTUM Christian, Bischof von Minden, 1611-1633. Reichstaler 1623, Clausthal. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle, Christian, bishop of Minden, 1611-33, thaler of 1623, Clausthal mint. Handsome patina, very fine.)"

The duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle fell extinct in 1705 and passed to Hannover. The Duchy of Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866. This type was struck 1617-25 in nineteen varieties (Dav-6430 thru 6467) but is generally common.
