Künker sale 293, lot 640

This specimen was lot 640 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €170 (about US$229 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, HERZOGTUM Georg, 1636-1641. Reichstaler 1638, Zellerfeld. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler, fast sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg, George, 1636-41, thaler of 1638, Zellerfeld mint. Small edge defects, very fine.)"

This "wild man" thaler of 1637-39 is somewhat scarce.
