This specimen was lot 1276 in Sincona sale 22 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$1,884 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Dannenberg, Herzogtum, Julius Ernst, 1598-1636 Taler o. J. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Dannenberg, Julius Ernest (1598-1636), undated thaler, very fine.)"
This rather rare thaler was issued by a shortlived splinter of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle called Brunswick-Dannenberg. On the death of Julius Ernst, his heir, August II, united the realm with Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel.
