Steve Album Auction 52, lot 2520. The obverse image is upside down.

This specimen was lot 2520 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $84. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITTANY: Francis II, 1458-1488, BI blanc a la targe, Rennes, cross // coat of arms, pleasing F-VF, R." A very similar blanc à la targe was struck at the Rennes mint (Roberts-6142). Francis II left behind a daughter Anne, who was forcibly married to the king of France, incorporating the duchy into the royal domain.
