Brittany (1458-88) gros
This specimen was lot 1698 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Bretagne, Herzogtum, Francois II. 1458-1488. Gros o. J. Rennes. Fast vorzüglich. (France, duchy of Brittany, Francis II, 1458-88, undated gros, Rennes mint. About extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 1077 in Jean Elsen sale 150 (Brussels, March 2022), where it sold for €100 (about US$133 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"FRANCE, BRETAGNE, Duché, François II (1458-1488), AR gros à l'écu, Rennes. D/ Ecu à six mouchetures. R/ Croix feuillue cantonnée de quatre annelets, la lettre R en coeur. Très Beau. (France, duchy of Brittany, Francis II, 1458-88, silver groat of the shield, Rennes mint. Obverse: shield with six ermines. Reverse: floriate cross cantonned with four globes, the letter 'R' at the center. Very Fine.)"
