British North Borneo is today known as Sabah and is a state of Malaysia. In the nineteenth century, half cents and cents were issued for the colony by the Heaton Mint. This specimen was part of lot 22163 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $488.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Commonwealth Six Coin Grouping, 1/2 Cent 1886, Cent 1890, 1938, 2 1/2 Cents 1903, 5 Cents 1921, 25 Cents 1929. The 2 1/2 Cents is VF, the rest are AU or UNC."

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000 plus proofs.
