British North Borneo is today known as Sabah and is a state of Malaysia. In the nineteenth century, half cents and cents were issued for the colony by the Heaton Mint. The first specimen was lot 24072 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Colonial Specimen Cent 1886-H, SP66 RB NGC, gorgeous prooflike surfaces with just a hint of toning."
Recorded mintage: 5,000,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 9.25 g, bronze, 29.6 mm diameter.
