Goldberg sale 80, lot 3955
Br Honduras 1939 cent rev G80-3955.jpg

This type was struck 1937-47 and is rather scarce, especially in nice condition. The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and later queen Elizabeth II. This specimen was lot 3955 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $141. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Honduras. Cent, 1939. George VI. NGC graded MS-65 Red."

Recorded mintage: 50,000 plus proofs.

Specification: bronze, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM 21.
