British Honduras 1942 cent
This type was struck 1937-47 and is rather scarce, especially in nice condition. The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and later queen Elizabeth II. This specimen was lot 22211 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH HONDURAS. Cent, 1942. NGC MS-63 BN. Entirely glossy with hints remnants of original mint red remaining around portions of the reverse design. Highly elusive in the quality, this piece being tied with one other piece for the finest certified by NGC for the date."
