This specimen was lot 33621 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Proof 5 Cents 1939 PR66 NGC. A spectacular coin with impressive reflectivity. Seldom encountered in Proof." This type was struck 1939 only and is somewhat scarce. The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and later queen Elizabeth II.
Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus a few proofs.
