The first specimen was lot 33621 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Proof 5 Cents 1939 PR66 NGC. A spectacular coin with impressive reflectivity. Seldom encountered in Proof." This type was struck 1939-46 and is slightly scarce. The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and later queen Elizabeth II.
Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus a few proofs.
