British Honduras 1911 25 cents
This specimen was lot 34424 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $3,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Honduras: British Colony. George V 25 Cents 1911 MS63 NGC. A wholesome specimen laden with frosted mint brilliance encircling George's portrait at the turn of the wrist, with underlying steel tones abound. Choice Mint State and appreciable so fine, with only a single certified finer at NGC." This scarce type was also issued in 1919. The next twenty-five cents was issued in 1952, by which time the silver denominations had been converted to copper-nickel. British Honduras is today Belize.
