This specimen was lot 71154 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH HONDURAS. Cent, 1911. London Mint. PCGS MS-62 Brown Gold Shield. Single second finest certified of the date on the PCGS population report, only surpassed by two examples (PCGS MS 63). First year of issue for this three-year type. A nicely preserved and well struck example displaying lovely rich chocolate brown patina over the smooth surfaces." This type was struck 1911-13 and is rather scarce, especially in nice condition. The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and later queen Elizabeth II.

Recorded mintage: 50,000.

Specification: bronze.

Catalog reference: KM-15.
