This specimen was lot 20300 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH HONDURAS. 50 Cents, 1897. NGC MS-61. A low mintage coin with only 20,000 struck. Medium iridescent toning over mark free surfaces. A very elusive issue at this relatively lofty grade level. Nicely toned and quite attractive." This four year type is not rare in circulated condition. This is one of the scarcer of the four known dates (1894, 1895, 1897, 1901).

Specification: 11.62 g, 0.925 fine silver, .345 troy oz ASW.
