Breslau 1706 1/8 ducat Fr-348
This specimen was lot 1805 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$4,213 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HEILIGES ROMISCH REICH, Joseph I. 1705-1711. 1/8 Dukat 1706, Breslau. Einseitig. Stempelschneider Georg Hoffmann. Wardein Franz Nowack. Sehr selten. Fast FDC. (Austria, Joseph I, 1705-11, one-eighth ducat of 1706, Breslau mint, uniface. Very rare, About uncirculated.)"
The Bishopric of Breslau was an ecclesiastical state in Silesia and usually ruled by a Hapsburg client from 1526 until its conquest by Frederick the Great in 1741. Breslau issued a long series of ducats and multiple ducats, all rare. This uniface type is listed for 1706-10; conventional two sided ⅛ ducats (KM 723) were struck at the same time.
