Brazil 1967 centavo rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is the first coin issued by Brazil as part of second reform of the currency in 1967, the first occurring in 1942 when the réis was dropped for the cruzeiro. Additional reforms would occur in 1986, 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994 as military misrule compounded corruption, social inequality, foreign debt and urban violence. The issue of 1969 was thinner and lighter.

Recorded mintage: 100,246,000 plus more made in 1969.

Specification: 2.63 g, stainless steel, 17 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 575.1.
