Brazil 1935 2000 reis

Shown is an silver 2000 réis of the United States of Brazil. This is one of a series of circulating commemoratives issued in the 1920's and 1930's which today form an interesting but inexpensive set. This particular one commemorates general Caxias (1803-80) and was issued 1935 only. The denomination was abolished in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.

Recorded mintage: 2,131,000.

Specification: 8 g, 0.500 fine silver, 26.2 mm diameter.
