Shown is a copper-nickel two hundred réis of the United States of Brazil. This is part of the set of commemoratives honoring the four hundredth anniversary the colonization of Brazil, which event would today be celebrated with much less jubilation, considering the immense suffering on the part of the indigenes and kidnapped black Africans. The two hundred réis gradually shrank until its abolition in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.
Recorded mintage: 596,000.
Specification: 7.93 g, copper-nickel, 25 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 528.
