Shown is a copper twenty réis of the United States of Brazil, struck 1889-1912. It is accompanied by a similar forty réis (KM 491). It is catalogued as a common date. The twenty réis, a descendant of the twenty réis of colonial times, ceased production after 1912 and was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel twenty réis.
Recorded mintage: 2,118,000 (most common date).
