The first specimen was lot 26161 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II 1200 Reis 1834, AU55 NGC, well defined, with traces of luster around the devices." This type was struck in small numbers 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835 and 1837 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by 100 réis, 200 réis, 800 réis and 400 réis in silver.
