This specimen was lot 321 in Ponterio sale 182 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description^[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 1,200 Reis, 1835. NGC MS-64. Finest certified, the next being a 61. Even toning with underlying luster." This type was struck in small numbers 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835 and 1837 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by 100 réis, 200 réis, 800 réis and 400 réis in silver.
