This type was struck in small numbers 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835, 1837 and 1846 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by 200 réis, 400 réis, 800 réis and 1200 réis in silver. This specimen was lot 25169 in Heritage sale 61382 (Dallas, March 2024), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brazil: Pedro II 100 Reis 1834 AU53 NGC. First year of type. Beautiful mottled cabinet tone."
