This specimen was lot 23864 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $22,325. The catalog description[1] noted, "Key Maria and Pedro Piece. Maria I & Pedro III gold 3200 Reis 1784-B, AU58 NGC. Faint hairlines prevent a higher grade. Queen's hair is bold. Legends are beautifully struck. From The RLM Collection, Part II." The peça or 6400 réis was the most common gold denomination with its fractions being much scarcer.
