Künker sale 293, lot 326

This specimen was lot 326 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €280 (about US$377 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich III. 1688-1701. 1/3 Taler 1699, LCS, Berlin. RR Feine Patina, sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Brandenburg, Frederick III, 1688-1701, one third thaler of 1699, Berlin mint. Rare, fine patina, very fine.)"

This type was struck at Berlin 1690-1700 and is rather expensive for a German minor, tho the issues of Prussia tend to be popular.

Recorded mintage: 18,000.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: v. Schr. 377, KM 573.
