Künker sale 293, lot 317

This specimen was lot 317 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €280 (about US$377 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich Wilhelm, der Große Kurfürst, 1640-1688. 1/3 Taler 1672, TT, Königsberg. Fast vorzüglich Exemplar der Slg. Bernhard Terletzki. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 49, Osnabrück 1999, Nr. 1244. (Germany, electorate of Brandenburg, Frederick William, the Great Elector, 1640-88, one third thaler of 1672, Königsberg mint. About extremely fine.)"

This type is noted for 1668-75 from Königsberg. Other third thalers exist from other mints for 1672.

Recorded mintage: 865,000 (including mintmaster CV).
