This specimen was lot 23988 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brandenburg-Franconia. Friedrich von Ansbach (1495-1515) Goldgulden 1504, AU50 NGC. FRIDRICI:D:G | MARCh:BRAn, John the Baptist standing with lamb and book, a dog's head between his feet / +MONЄ:nOVA:AVR:SWOBACh:1504 (backwards 4), Short cross with shields in angles. A couple of small flan cracks do little to detract from the appeal of this coin, particularly the wonderfully struck image of John the Baptist." Friedberg lists this type for 1497-1515.
