This specimen was lot 3717 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,075 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Brandenburg-Franken, Markgrafschaft Friedrich, 1495-1515. Goldgulden 1507. Selten. Sehr schön. (Germany, Margraviate of Brandenburg-Franconia, Frederick, 1495-1515, gold gulden of 1507, rare, very fine.)"
In the sixteenth century, Brandenburg was an insignificant state in the north of Germany, overshadowed by Saxony.
