Brandenburg-Ansbach 1625-CG thaler Dav-6230
This specimen was lot 3708 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$1,963 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN, BRANDENBURG-ANSBACH, MARKGRAFSCHAFT, Joachim Ernst, 1603-1625. Reichstaler 1625, Roth. Attraktives Exemplar, kl. Korrosionsstellen, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, Joachim Ernest, 1603-25, thaler of 1625. Attractive example, light corrosion, about extremely fine.)"
While the margrave issued a variety of minor coinage and kipper issues, a few thalers (Dav-6226 thru -6235) also exist. This issue of 1622 and 1625 is among the more available.
